Thoughts on Consistency
Most successful endeavors (education, career, marriage, etc) are not usually just one huge event as they may appear at times. If you put them under a microscope, you’ll find they are composed of thousands of tiny decisions, each consistent with the others, made one at a time, filling in all of the intricate details of the beautiful accomplishment we all admire. It’s a union of goals, dreams, desires, and effort. Making each of those tiny decisions sometimes doesn’t seem to be going any where, but over time what develops proves to be worth each sacrifice, every pain, and all of the toil.
We only have to beware of the bad decisions– the ones that are inconsistent with where we are going, no matter how small. They tend to breed and turn into an infestation that eats ugly holes into the masterpiece we’ve worked so hard to build, sometimes causing it to come crashing down.
It’s not about being the strongest or the best, it’s more about being the most internally unified person. The person whose ideas and actions are in harmony with one another. Eventually each of those actions will join together to form the manifestation of the idea.
This is just my brain, kicking around some thoughts, but I think I’m onto something here.
